I love a good book and so does my 2 boys. But, they are hard to come by now a days. So when I was sent The Bumpy, Grumpy Road by Elizabeth Pagel-Hogan, to read and review. I was thrilled. The boys could hardly wait until story time.

The story is about a little boy named Dylan with 2 brothers, one older and one younger, learning to deal with his emotions and feelings and siblings and how to deal with them. The big blue car got their attention right away. As we read along with Dylan on his journey, we experienced shouting, anger, and grumpiness. As we continued Dylan began to learn to say please, share, and to be friendly to be happy.

The story was very cute and appealed to my 3 year old and 5 year old. We discussed each emotion Dylan was going through and experiencing as the story moved along. Towards the end, they were very excited to see how it ended and if Dylan could “change” his ways and get back onto the smooth path.

I love the illustrations and are true to the story. They helped visualize the story and were relatable to my 2 blonde haired boys as well.

The Bumpy, Grumpy Road is written by Elizabeth Pagel-Hogan and illustrated by Mellisa Ott and available at www.threebirdsbooks.com and on Amazon.
